May 22, 2011Is it possible to know the integrity of those we elect before we elect them? The wisest of all men said "you will know a tree by it's fruit". I have heard it said that it is not so much what a person says as it is what they do. This certainly makes the saying "actions speak louder than words" true. If we have opportunities to watch a person's actions before they get elected, we should certainly do so. But what do we do after a person has been elected and their actions do not match up to their words?
Would the time it would take to check the voting records of our elected officials help us in knowing them better? Would not the "fruit" they produce reveal who they truly are? And once we feel that we have seen the type of "fruit" that we do not agree with, what happens next? This is where our freedom to vote enables us to correct any mistakes we may have made. We must find out about people by talking to those who know them.
When a person's actions do not match up to their words, should that person be allowed by voters to remain in office? When their actions do not match their words, we need to make a correction in our direction.
